The 14th annual Florida Caverns State Park butterfly count is scheduled for Saturday, June 3th. This will be an all-day count of the butterflies found in a 15-mile diameter circle centered around the park. You do not have to be an expert butterfly watcher in order to participate. There is no charge unless you wish to pay $7 for the NABA Butterfly Count publication that summarizes results for all the butterfly counts nationwide. We usually compile the count results over a relaxing dinner in Marianna.
If you are interested in participating, please let Dean and Sally Jue know, either by e-mail at dsjue@embarqmail.com or by calling them at 850-386-1393. We will meet at 7:45 am EDT at the Village Square Shopping Center (Thomasville Road at Village Square Blvd.) near Newk’s to arrange carpooling. Be sure to bring close-focusing binoculars, insect repellent, water and a lunch.
