The all-day post-conference trip on Thursday, September 20th, will be to the southern units of the Big Bend Wildlife Management Area (Tide Swamp and Jena Units) or the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge to look for the Florida endemic race of the Dukes’ Skipper, (Euphyes dukesi calhouni). The exact destination will depend on scouting trips just prior to the NABA conference. Please plan on an early start from the conference hotel (between 7 and 8 am.) Please bring water and lunch with you that morning since there will be no place to get food at our destination and we do not want to stop on the way. It is a long drive! We should be back in Tallahassee by 7 to 8 pm at the latest. For conference attendees who drove from peninsular Florida, this field trip could serve as a start to your drive home.
Please note: The $25 fee does not include transportation, accommodations, or food.
